The verse [[passage/quran-2-199|al-Baqara 199]] was revealed about them {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p.39} {cite:ibn-hisham-sira 1/199} {cite:sahih-al-bukhari 1/226}.\n- They said: \"The Hums should not eat dried curd or melt clarified butter while in the state of ihram, nor enter a house of hair, nor seek shade except in houses of leather, as long as they are in ihram\" {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p.39} {cite:ibn-hisham-sira 1/202}.\n- They said: \"The people of the outside should not eat food brought from the outside into the Sanctuary when they come as pilgrims or as visitors for umrah\" {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p.39} {cite:ibn-hisham-sira 1/202}.\n- They ordered the people of the outside not to circumambulate the House on their first arrival except in the clothes of the Hums. If they found none, the men would circumambulate naked, and the woman would take off all her clothes except an open-sided garment, then circle the House in it while reciting a well-known line of verse. God revealed about this [[passage/quran-7-31|al-A'raf 31]]. If someone insisted on keeping to his own dignity and circled in the clothes he had brought from the outside, he would discard them after the circumambulation, and neither he nor anyone else could use them {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p.39} {cite:ibn-hisham-sira 1/202-203} {cite:sahih-al-bukhari 1/226}.\n- While in ihram, they did not enter their houses through the doors. Instead they dug holes in the back walls of their houses to go in and out, and they considered this rudeness to be piety. The Qur'an forbade it in [[passage/quran-2-189|al-Baqara 189]] {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p.39}."
