     "markdown": "Ibn al-Imad describes him as brave and generous. al-Salih bought him for a thousand dinars. When power passed to his comrade al-Malik al-Mu'izz, Aqtay, as Ibn al-Imad says, went to great lengths in humiliating others and in tyranny, and used to ride as a king rides. He married the daughter of the lord of Hama, and asked al-Mu'izz for the Citadel of the Mountain (the Cairo citadel) to hold his wedding in it. {cite:shadharat-dhahab p.263}"
