     "markdown": "After the death of [[person/abdullah-ibn-masud|Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud]], [[person/zubayr-ibn-al-awwam|al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam]] said to [[person/uthman-ibn-affan|Uthman]]: \"Give me the stipend of Abd Allah, for his dependants have a better claim to it than the treasury.\" al-Zubayr was the executor of Ibn Mas'ud, and Uthman gave him fifteen thousand. Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz used to give the heirs of a man who had earned his stipend and then died. He gave two-thirds of the stipend to a man who died eight months later. Ali was brought a foundling and enrolled him for a hundred. Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz enrolled Marwan ibn Shuja', while still weaned, at ten dinars.
