     "markdown": "Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad had taken captive a multitude of the people of Bukhara. It is also said that they came down under his judgement, and it is said that he called them to safe-conduct and to the poll-tax (fariḍa), and they came down and liked it. He settled them in Basra. {cite:futuh-buldan-maarif-1407}\n\nWhen al-Hajjaj built the city of Wasit, he moved many of them there. al-Baladhuri mentions that among their descendants there is a group, including Khalid al-Shatir, known as Ibn Mariqli. {cite:futuh-buldan-maarif-1407}\n\nThe three reports on the cause of their settlement are given as they appear, without preference."
