Did I not come to you astray — and God guided you through me; destitute — and God enriched you through me; enemies — and God united your hearts?\" They said: indeed — God and His Messenger are most bounteous and most kind {cite:ibn-hisham-saqqa 4/142}.\n\nThen he said: \"will you not answer me, Ansar? By God, if you wished you could say — and you would be believed: you came to us called a liar and we believed you, forsaken and we aided you, outcast and we sheltered you, needy and we supported you … Do you resent, Ansar, a trifle of this world by which I reconciled people to Islam, while I committed you to your Islam? Are you not content, Ansar, that the people go off with sheep and camels while you return to your homes with the Messenger of God? By Him in whose hand is Muhammad's soul, if the people took one valley and the Ansar took another, I would take the Ansar's valley.
