     "markdown": "The Day of al-Ghars was one of the days of the Ansar. Abu Qays ibn al-Aslat told al-Aws that he had never led a people without their being defeated, so they should choose for themselves whomever they wished. They appointed Hudayr al-Kata'ib ibn al-Simak, father of Usayd ibn Hudayr, and the victory that day went to al-Aws. Then they agreed to tally the dead. Al-Aws were three men ahead in the count, so al-Khazraj handed over three boys as pledges against the blood-money. Al-Aws then broke faith and killed them, and that was the spark of the First Fijar. {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p. 506}"
