They said they would not give a ruling unless it was established for them what would require his killing. {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p.94}\n\nWhen al-Hallaj was asked about his book on the pilgrimage to the House, he said he had taken it from \"al-Ikhlas\" by al-Hasan al-Basri. The judge said, according to the report, that they had heard the book in Mecca and it did not contain that.
