     "markdown": "He came to power as a boy of twelve, and his client Sandal and then his client Muwaffaq took charge of his affairs. When the Christians seized [[place/mahdiyya|al-Mahdiyya]], he fled to the Arabs of Riyah, but found no one to help him there. He then crossed to Bona and Algiers, until the Almohads took Algiers in 547 AH; he went out to Abd al-Mu'min, who received him with honour and acceptance, and he accompanied him on his campaigns. {cite:tarikh-ibn-khaldun-ibar p.1636}\n\nWhen Abd al-Mu'min took al-Mahdiyya in 555 AH, he settled him there and gave him Rahish as a fief. He stayed eight years, then died on his way to Marrakesh in 566 AH. {cite:tarikh-ibn-khaldun-ibar p.1636}\n\nThe data say he was the son of Ali ibn Yahya al-Ziri, and the entry linked with him does not yet exist in the museum."
