     "markdown": "Al-Nasir Abu al-Sa'adat Muhammad ibn Qaytbay was given the sultanate one day before his father died, in the year 904, while still a young man at the age of majority. He reigned for six months and two days, and was then deposed on the eighteenth of Jumada al-Ula, after his decline left him unable to rule {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 425}. He was succeeded by the king al-Ashraf Qansuh al-Ghuri for about eleven days, until the soldiers turned against him, he fled to Gaza, and he disappeared after the battle of Khan Yunis, so that neither his death nor his survival was known {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 439}.\n\nAl-Nasir then returned to the sultanate after his sound judgement was confirmed. He reigned for a year and six and a half months, and then began to indulge in play and amusements and in acts that are not fit to mention. Al-Qutti, in his history of Mecca, reports ugly things about him. He was killed in a terrible manner before sunset on Wednesday, the fifteenth of Rabi al-Awwal in the year 904 {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 439}."
