The entry reports that Abd Allah ibn Amir appointed him over Sijistan in the year 29 AH and it was conquered at his hands, and that his brother al-Muhajir ibn Ziyad was killed at Manadhir {cite:ibn-hajar-isaba p.455}. Al-Bukhari, Ibn Abi Hatim and Ibn Hibban mention him among the Successors, and Ibn al-Kalbi reports on his life and poetry in the Jahiliyya {cite:ibn-hajar-isaba p.455}."
