     "markdown": "Ibn al-Athir, and the author of the Akhbar al-Dawla al-Saljukiyya, speak of an Arslan-Arghun, a brother of Alp Arslan, who was given the government of Khwarazm when Malikshah was proclaimed heir. The Akhbar calls him the son of Alp Arslan and so identical with Malikshah's brother; but Imad al-Din al-Bundari, followed by Ibn al-Athir, says that Malikshah's brother was twenty-six at his death and held only a small iqta in western Persia when Malikshah died. Nothing else is known of a brother of Alp Arslan of this name, so the entry concludes that two people of the name existed.
