     "markdown": "Zayn al-Din Abu al-Faraj ʿAbd al-Rahman, son of Shaykh Taqi al-Din Ibn Muflih al-Hanbali, of Salihiyya, a Sufi of the Qadiri and Bistami path. He was a shaykh of the order, a scholar of the truth, and a devout worshipper. He was born in 782 AH and studied jurisprudence with several scholars, among them Burhan al-Din and Akmal al-Din, the two sons of Sharaf al-Din Ibn Muflih. He was trained by his father and grew up in a good way, constantly devoted to remembrance of God, the recitation of the Qur'an and the litanies his father had arranged for him. He was loved by people, and deputies, judges and jurists of every school visited him. He studied many fields and wrote often in a fine hand. He wrote several books, among them \"al-Kanz al-Akbar\" on enjoining good and forbidding evil, \"Nuzhat al-Nufus wa-al-Afkar\" on the special properties of plants, animals and stones, and \"al-Durr al-Muntaqa\" on the litanies of the day and night and on the birthday of the Prophet. He was cheerful, eager to meet needs, and his word carried weight under both the Ashrafi and Zahiri regimes. He spoke about the school of Shaykh Abu ʿUmar and the Qaymari hospital, and benefited from them.\n\nHe died on the night of Friday, the last day of Rabiʿ II 856 AH, and was buried in the tomb he had built before his zawiya, on the road to the right of the one entering. His brother in God, Shaykh Ahmad ibn ʿAli ibn Abi Salim, told Ibn al-ʿImad that he had greeted him and that he had returned the greeting from his grave {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 288-289}."
