     "markdown": "The chief judge Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Abd al-Awwal, sayyid al-Sharif al-Husayni al-Ja'fari al-Tabrizi, first Shafi'i and then Hanafi, head of Tabriz and one of the clients of the Rumi scholars, known as Shishli Amir. He studied with his father and with Mawlana Muhammad al-Barlisi al-Shafi'i, and during his father's lifetime he gave the general lesson in the year 916. Then he went to the lands of Rum and rose through its madrasas until he reached one of the eight. {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 338}."

     "markdown": "He then held the judgeship of Aleppo at the end of 949 AH and then the judgeship of Damascus, entering it in Rabi' al-Thani 952.
