     "markdown": "Chief judge Shams al-Din Abu al-Baqa Muhammad ibn Jamaa al-Kinani al-Maqdisi al-Shafii was born at the end of Safar in the year 833 in Jerusalem, and grew up there. As a child he studied learning with his grandfather and others. Taqi al-Din ibn Qadi Shuhba gave him permission in person to issue fatwas and to teach when he came to Jerusalem. He was appointed during the lifetime of his father and grandfather, and he took over the teaching post of the Salahiyya madrasa from his grandfather, performing the duties very well, and notables attended his lessons {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 426}.\n\nIn Safar of the year 872 he was given the chief judgeship, the teaching post of the Salahiyya and the preacher's post of al-Aqsa all together. He did not seek the judgeship or a single dirham for it, and he kept far from the signs of ambition, as far as the law required. He was later removed from the judgeship and the teaching post by al-Izz al-Kinani, and he withdrew to his house by the al-Aqsa mosque, where he issued fatwas and taught {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 426}.\n\nHis works include a commentary on Jam' al-Jawami' called \"The Shining Star\", a gloss on al-Rawda in several volumes up to the chapter on menstruation, a gloss on al-Minhaj in several volumes, \"The Well-Ordered Pearl on the History of Musa\", and others. He died in Jerusalem in about the year 911 {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 426-427}."
