When Ibn al-Zubayr appointed him over Khurasan, he refused to accept it, and said that Ibn al-Zubayr was not a caliph but a man seeking refuge in the Sacred House {cite:futuh-buldan-maarif-1407}.\n\nIbn Khazim fought him with six thousand men, while Sulayman had fifteen thousand, and his emblem was \"O Nasr, draw near\".
