     "markdown": "Tekuder Ahmad ibn Hulagu, king of the Tatars, took the sultanate after his brother Abaqa. He had embraced Islam as a boy, granted a good companion — Shaykh 'Abd al-Rahman, who came to Syria as his envoy and worked for peace. His envoys reached Syria and Egypt in 681 reporting that he had settled at Baghdad in the kingdom and ordered mosques and congregational mosques built and the noble shari'a re-established as it had been in the caliphs' days.
