Some people mocked him and blamed him {cite:ansab-al-ashraf p.61-62}.\n\nUmayya grew angry and challenged Hashim to a contest for fifty black-eyed she-camels to be slaughtered in Mecca, and for ten years of exile. They appointed as arbiter a Khuza'i soothsayer whose home was at Usfan {cite:ansab-al-ashraf p.61-62}.\n\nThe soothsayer ruled for Hashim. Hashim slaughtered the camels and fed their meat, and Umayya went out to Syria and stayed there for ten years. al-Baladhuri calls this the first enmity to arise between Hashim and Umayya {cite:ansab-al-ashraf p.61-62}."
